Pat Griffin is Director of It Takes A Team! Education Campaign for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Issues in Sport (www.ittakesateam.org), an initiative of the Women’s Sports Foundation. Dr Griffin is also a Professor Emerita in the Social Justice Education Program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her research and writing interests focus on heterosexism/homophobia in athletics. Dr. Griffin has written a book entitled, Strong Women, Deep Closets: Lesbian and Homophobia in Sports, published by Human Kinetics, 1998. She is also co-editor of Teaching For Diversity and Social Justice: A Sourcebook for Teachers and Trainers, (second edition) Routledge, 2007. In 2007 Dr. Griffin was named one of the top 100 sport educators in the United States by the Institute for International Sport. She coached high school basketball, field hockey and softball in Montgomery County, MD, and coaches swimming and diving at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
